Dr Margaret (Peggy) Schott, a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry and member of the Stoddart Group since 2008, has been selected as incoming Chair-Elect by members of the American Chemical Society’s Chicago Local Section. She will assume her role beginning in January 2022, and will become Chair the following year. During the past two years Peggy served as Editor of the section’s monthly newsletter, The Chemical Bulletin, and in prior years she served as Secretary and Director. She has also given talks on historical women scientists at regional and national ACS meetings, and is a frequent contributor of historical information to the department’s newsletter.
The Chicago Section, which currently has around 3,300 members, was recently recognized with a 2021 ChemLuminary Award for Outstanding Performance by a Local Section in the very large size category.
