Welcome to our New Research Interns

The Stoddart Group welcomes the arrival of four new Undergraduate Research Interns from China – Yutong Liu, Zhenwei Wu, Qinghua Yang and Yongsi Zhu.

Yutong Liu was born and grew up in Lanzhou, China. She is currently studying Applied Chemistry in Nankai University and will obtain her BS Degree in 2022. In 2019 she joined Huabin Li’s group working on supramolecular inclusion of protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibiting herbicides. During her time as an Undergraduate Research Intern in the Stoddart Group, Yutong’s interest will be the design, synthesis and characterization of molecular machines and functional macrocycles.

Zhenwei Wu was born in Fuqing, Fujian and grew up in Changle, Fujian, China. He will receive his BE degree in Chemical Engineering at Dalian University of Technology in 2022. Zhenwei is a member of the Multifunctional Dyes Team at the State Key Laboratory of Fine Chemistry. As an Undergraduate Research Intern in the Stoddart Group, his research will focus on the development of artificial molecular pumps.

Qinghua Yang was born and grew up in Chongqing, China. She will obtain her BS degree in Chemistry at Nankai University and a BE degree in Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University in June 2022. Qinghua joined Professor Qi-Lin Zhou’s group at Nankai University to study chiral catalysis and later worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in molecular nanotechnology for cancer chemotherapy in Professor Yu-Miao Zhang’s group at Tianjin University. As an Undergraduate Research Intern in the Stoddart Group, she plans to work on electron-catalyzed molecular recognition.

Yongsi Zhu was born and grew up in Xichang, Sichuan, China. She will receive her BS Degree in Applied Chemistry from Nankai University in June 2022. She has spent some time in Professor Yijing Wang’s Research Group, working on the MgH2-LiBHhydrogen-storage system promoted by Nb-based compounds. As an Undergraduate Research Intern in the Stoddart Group, Yongsi looks forward to studying the chemistry of mechanical bonds.

We are very happy to have you all on board and hope your stay in the Stoddart Group is an enriching and fruitful one.
