Dengke Shen was born and grew up in Anhui, China. He received his PhD in analytical chemistry in 2011 from University of Science and Technology of China, under the supervision of Professor Qingde Su, studying protein anticoagulants derived from natural products. He joined Professor Dongyuan Zhao’s group at Fudan University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2011, working on the fabrication of hierarchical mesoporous nanoparticles with controllable pore sizes. He moved to Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences as an Assistant Professor in 2014, researching focus on green catalysts. In 2016, Dengke moved to Northwestern University as a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Sir Fraser Stoddart, working on nanodevices and nano-assembly using mechanical bonds.
