Bo was born in Lanzhou, a city located in the northwest of China. He received a bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University majoring in biomedical engineering in 2011. Then he went back to Lanzhou University, where he first started the journey on synthetic organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Yongmin Liang and got a master’s degree in 2015. Afterwards Bo went to the United States and started his PhD studies with Prof. Xiaopeng Li at Texas State University. In fall 2016 the group moved to the University of South Florida, where he finally obtained his PhD in December 2019. During the PhD studies he mainly focused on coordination-driven self-assemblies of giant metallo-supramolecular architectures, as well as mass spectrometric characterizations. Bo joined the Stoddart group at Northwestern University in January 2020 as a postdoctoral fellow. His current researches focus on redox-controlled molecular machines and related functional materials.
