Former Group Member Lei Fang Becomes Full Professor at TAMU

Former Stoddart Group PhD student, Dr Lei Fang, has been officially promoted to the rank of Full Professor at Texas A&M University (TAMU), effective September 1, 2023. Dr Fang’s rise within the academic community stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the pursuit of scientific innovation and the education of future generations.

In the realm of academic research, Dr Fang has emerged as a leading figure in the study of organic and polymer functional materials. His work on conjugated ladder polymers is particularly lauded, with his research group widely regarded as one of the foremost forces in this burgeoning field. The innovations spearheaded by Dr Fang’s group promise to yield profound and lasting impact on our understanding of materials chemistry and polymer science. Parallel to his outstanding research contributions, Dr Fang is deeply committed to the mentorship of graduate students. His recent appointment as the Associate Head of Graduate Studies in his home department at TAMU attests to his devotion to cultivating the intellectual growth and development of the next generation of scholars.

In recognition of Dr Fang’s exceptional achievements in research, teaching, and service to the academic community, he has been honored with a series of prestigious accolades. Among these are the NSF CAREER Award, the Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, the Presidential Impact Fellow of TAMU, and most recently, his appointment to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
