I was born in Detroit, MI and I lived in the metro Detroit area for most of my life. I went to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) where I majored in chemistry and worked on the synthesis of small heterocyclic molecules for use as antiviral drugs. After completing my degree, I honed my chemistry skills in the cornscape of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois with Prof. Jeff Moore at the University of Illinois where I studied the structural and reactive sieving properties of phenylene ethynylene foldamers. After finishing my graduate work, I made a short move up from C-U to Chicago and joined the Stoddart labs in September 2008.
