I was born Russia and came to the United States as a child. My family settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where I grew up. As an undergraduate, I studied at the University Of California at Riverside, where I received my B.Sc. in physics. Due to my interest in organic electronics, I pursued a doctorate at UCLA and joined the Stoddart Group in 2005. The group migrated to Northwestern in 2007, and I have been here ever since. My research interests are focused on the development of advanced functional materials (organic electronics/optoelectronics). The design and the study of organic crystals are critical in my research. Outside the lab I love to work with my hands. I enjoy drawing, painting, and sculpting. I love tools and machines; I am always fixing or modifying something. Running is something I else I love doing, and I try to compete in at least one race a year.
