I was born in Illinois and grew up in Tinley Park, a town located just south of Chicago. I received my BSc at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) (2001-2005) where I majored in Chemistry and performed undergraduate research under the supervision of Prof Steven C Zimmerman. In 2003 I spent one year studying abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia. In August 2005, I moved to Los Angeles where I started my career as a graduate student conducting research in the area of molecular electronics.
In August 2007, I moved from UCLA to the Stoddart Group's new home at Northwestern University. I am currently working on research projects in both molecular electronics and artificial light-harvesting systems.
While not in the lab I enjoy playing guitar, running, swimming, road trips, skiing, camping, and most things outdoors.
