Message:

My work focuses on the biochemical interface between cells and inorganic nanoparticles to achieve effective in vivo drug delivery. In order to accomplished these objectives, I am focusing on adapting past Stoddart supramolecular nano-valves for the biochemical environment to control the release of small molecule pharmaceutical agents from mesoporous silica nanoparticles. To achieve particle recognition and cancer cell selectivity, we are working to adapt established chemical methodologies to acquire site specific binding to maintain biomolecular integrity. Finally, we are adapting establish silica colloidal methodologies to modulate silica particle formation to enhance bio-circulation and size based cell selectivity. This will also allow us to adapt the nanoparticle platform to deliver a wider range of potential therapeutic agents for in-vitro and in-vivo selectivity.
