I received my BA in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Knox College in 2010 and moved to the University of Washington, where I worked as a research assistant on the synthesis of active-site targeted protein kinase inhibitors for the parasites Toxoplasma gondii and Cryptosporidium parvum in the Maly group.

I then traveled (the wrong way around the world) to the University of Otago, New Zealand and worked on the development of nitric oxide delivery molecules using mitochonria-targeted S-nitrosothiols under the guidance of Robin Smith.

I am now a joint student with the Stupp and Stoddart groups at Northwestern University, working with the principles of molecular recognition and self-assembly to create cationic cage molecules and artificial muscle constructs.

In my free time?, I find myself compelled to the outdoors, with backpacking and climbing up tall things (to the dismay of my wonderful wife, Natalie) ranking among the most enjoyable.
