I was born and raised in China. My hometown, Qingdao, is a beautiful city in the northeast of China by the ocean. I came to the U.S. when I was 18 and spent a year as a high school exchange student in Hull, IA. I then spent the next four years studying chemistry at Hope College in Holland, MI. During my time at Hope, I conducted research with Professor Kenneth Brown in electrochemistry. In Fall 2011, I spent a semester as an intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, conducing research on synthesis of carbon nanospheres with Dr. Sheng Dai. I am now a Ph.D. student in the Stoddart Group, and I'm loving everything in the Research Palace: My PI is so caring, the lab environment is so friendly, the research is so exciting, and my lab mates are so kind and helpful.
In my spare time, I like playing some Chopin, traveling around, and horseback riding.
