B.S. Chemistry - Butler University (2013)

I grew up in Plainfield, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. I am currently majoring in Chemistry and Spanish at Butler University. I first became interested in research last summer when I participated in a REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program in Cadiz, Spain, where I worked to isolate and characterize secondary metabolites from Antarctic lichens. This summer, I had the wonderful opportunity to join the Stoddart group through another REU program, and I am working to synthesize a switchable catenane with porphyrin as a station on one macrocycle, and ExBox as the other macrocycle. While I am not studying or in lab, I enjoy reading, playing soccer, hiking, and anything else that involves being outside.
