PhD degree Bilkent University, Department of Material Science and Nanotechnology, 2008-2012 (expected graduation) Ankara, TURKEY
M.Sc. degree Middle East Technical University, Department of Chemistry, 2006-2008,
Bachelor’s degree Middle East Technical University, Department of Chemistry, 2002–2006
I was born and grew up in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. My inclination towards chemistry began in my high school years, where I had the chance to participate in the national and international chemistry olympiads. As a result, I chose to enroll in the Chemistry Department of Middle East Technical University in Ankara. I got my MSc degree from the same university under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Engin Umut Akkaya, and I am currently a 3rd year PhD student (a member of Akkaya lab) at National Nanotechnology Center, Bilkent University. My research interests mainly focus on the development of both colorimetric and fluorometric chemosensors, molecular scale logic gates, photosensitizers for solar energy conversion, and functional self assembled structures. I recently joined Professor Stoddart’s group as a visiting pre-doctoral scholar. I am very excited to have an opportunity to be part of this group, and I believe I will learn much from this great group.
