I was born in Melbourne and grew up in Brisbane, the capital of Australia’s sunshine state. I completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry at Queensland University of Technology, after which I worked as a technician in the Netherlands. I then returned to Australia to earn my PhD under the supervision of Associate Professor Dennis Arnold, and my thesis was entitled “The synthesis and characterisation of azoporphyrins – the porphyrin analogues of azobenzene”. I then moved to Oxford to work with Professor Harry Anderson on the design and synthesis of molecular wires. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow with Sir Fraser Stoddart. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, reading, crafts and photography.
